JOB TITLE: GROUP MANAGER
OBJECTIVE OF GROUP MANAGER BRANCH OPERATIONS:
Management of regional branch operations for the Midwest and functions including, but not limited to, personnel, equipment, warehouse and customer relations. Job requires minimal 75% travel to include weekends.
DUTIES: Essential duties are as follows:
Manage Branch Managers through daily interactions providing feedback, guidance, direction and disciplinary actions (if required).
Review all daily paperwork for all branches including tickets, inter-company delivery receipts, route sheets, inventory postings, loss reports and box damage reports to ensure accuracy policy compliance by branches.
Review controllable branch expenses including but not limited to: labor costs, overtime, sublimation, phone and lift truck invoices, common carrier use/invoices and take corrective actions to maximize branch profitability by intervention with branch managers.
Review branch P&L’s participate in monthly meetings and recommend actions for branch managers.
Assist and direct branch manager in the movement and care of all blasting equipment, including parts to eliminate damages and missing parts and reduce transportation costs.
Fill in for manager vacations and for managers’ driver vacations as needed. Schedule to ensure efficiency, reduce travel and on time per policy.
Direct and assist in recruiting warehouse employees and branch drivers to ensure adequate staff levels and on time service without excessive overtime.
Author and perform annual reviews and development plans for branch managers.
Perform any other duties that can ensure successful company operation including performing the functions of hourly employees (as time permits) to minimize overall labor costs.
Assist in and direct special projects, new branch openings and peak season surges.
Ensure managers are in compliance with warehouse cleanliness standards and 5 S standards through inspections and camera activity reviews.
Emphasize safety and regulatory compliance with all branch employees through training, meeting direction/participation and branch employee interactions.
Ensure branch managers perform proper maintenance on all lift equipment, saws, dock attachments and vehicles.
Employee Engagement/Customer Service
Manage branch managers’ employee meeting compliance and reporting (monthly P&L/employee, monthly safety, quarterly NPS and Engagement). Ensure manager’s activities are relevant and that correct forms and routings are used.
Review and direct branch manager customer interactions through visits, review of Account Maintenance Reports and Customer Service (NPS) action plans. Excellence is the target.
Must exhibit and take leadership actions that result in acceptable employee engagement and improved customer service as measured by the locations’ annual employee survey and NPS results.
Branch Distribution/Route Efficiency
Review driver routes to ensure branches are maximizing loads and expense reductions through the use of route sheets, technology (GPS Reports, logs and others) and manager discussions.
Inspect branch trucks on site or via photos from field to ensure professional appearance and proper maintenance plans are in place.
Review branch driver DVIR’s for accuracy and defect corrections.
Assist and direct branch managers in the empty box return process. Ensure applicable and correct charges are made through auditing.
Answer all emails, meet requested due dates – including all corporate requests.
Adhere to Company PO Policies and complete at request of the branch managers.
Participate in Wednesday Operations conference calls and others required.
Guide branch managers in preparation of DOT and Employee files to ensure on time delivery to the Safety Department, Human Resources and Payroll. Ensure orientation training is completed per policy.
Participate in all required training programs.
Ensure branch manager reports (daily, weekly and monthly) are complete and accurate, on the correct form and routed to the correct people (collision, injury, IQC and Account Maintenance Reports also).
